Rajesh Kumar Agarwal, President of Nepal Industry Confederation, has said that the government needs to organize the project approval process to attract private investment. Speaking on the occasion of the fifth Nepal Infrastructure Conference on Thursday, Agarwal said that along with streamlining the project approval process, attention should be paid to reducing political and policy risks.

He said that sustainable development is important considering the risk of climate change. He pointed out that there is a need to prioritize access to green finance and climate funds.

He urged international investors to increase investment in areas such as climate-resilient agriculture, natural flood management and nature-positive economic diversification.

Agarwal also proposed five financial instruments including private equity, infrastructure funds, local currency bonds and sovereign credit ratings to mobilize resources for infrastructure. He urged the government to create favorable conditions for investors by improving governance, transparency and accountability in the country.
