The leadership of the South Asia Financial Sector Inclusion Initiative (SARFII) has come to Nepal Rastra Bank. Along with the transfer of leadership, Governor Mahaprasad Adhikari has been elected the chairman of SARFII on behalf of Rashtra Bank.
The meeting of the 'Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI) - Global Policy Forum' has been going on since September 2, 2024 in San Salvador, the capital of the Central American region of El Salvador.
The chairmanship of the SARFII Leader Roundtable held on Wednesday was handed over to Nepal Rastra Bank. On that occasion, Governor Adhikari participated through virtual means and presided over the meeting.
The meeting has elected State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) as the Vice Chairman of SARFII. Previously SARFII was headed by the Maldives Monetary Authority while Governor Adhikari was the vice-chairman of the network on behalf of Rashtra Bank.
Jordan's dead border completed in September 2022 SARFII was established during the twelfth meeting of the 'Global Policy Forum'. Central banks of Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Pakistan and Sri Lanka along with Nepal Rastra Bank are affiliated to this network.
SARFII was established with the objectives of knowledge sharing at the regional level, capacity building and joint learning exercises, implementation of technical assistance, promotion of all financial inclusion following global and regional best practices.
