Minister of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Balram Adhikari has alleged that those who deposit money in cooperatives are protesting by taking money from the bank at low interest to earn more interest.

Speaking at the 14th Foundation Day program of the Cooperative Journalists Society in Kathmandu on Wednesday, the minister said this. He said that those who want to take more interest are leading the agitation by urban victims.

Minister Adhikari said that the people were told that cooperatives are bad and that it needs to be scrapped. He Someone claimed that they were trying to make a comment that all cooperatives are bad by showing cooperatives who are trying to fulfill their interests. The minister said that the government is taking the suggestions of the cooperative leaders and the affected people to solve the problems of the cooperatives.

He said, "The government is moving forward with the suggestions of the cooperative leaders and the affected people to solve the problems of the cooperatives." Some co-operatives did a protest together. After coming as a minister, I sat in negotiations. 8 points were agreed upon in the talks. We started working on 7 out of 8 points in a week . We have not worked on one point . Parliament is investigating by forming a parliamentary committee. We have formed a problematic cooperative society to solve the problems of cooperatives that are in trouble. The government works according to the suggestions of the inquiry committee. But the movement is still happening. Why are people taking loans from banks and putting them in cooperatives to earn more interest and profit?'

Minister Adhikari said that the government is also taking initiatives to solve the problems of the cooperatives and the victims should also seek treatment according to the law. He also requested for dialogue with the government through the cooperative association.

He said that even before the current problem in cooperatives, there were problems in more than 7 townspeople and after he became the minister, only 2 cooperatives were declared problematic.
