268 families of Khandbari Municipality will be directly affected by the 669 MW Lower Arun Hydropower Project to be constructed in Sankhuwasabha.
The draft report of Lower Arun Hydropower Project rehabilitation and rehabilitation proposed by Sutlej was made public in Khandbari on Tuesday. It is mentioned in the report that about 65 hectares of their land will be acquired. Apart from that, 70 hectares of forest area and 6 hectares of government land will be acquired. Sutlej has said that it will distribute more than 1.44 billion as compensation to the affected locals.

Arun Dhiman, CEO of SJVN Lower Arun Power Development Company, said that after the 900 megawatts Arun third hydroelectric power generation, the lower Arun is going to be constructed by bringing water through a 17.4 km tunnel in Khandbari Municipality 2 Chewabensi. The Sutlej is currently constructing the 900 MW Arun III hydroelectric project. The Sutlej is ready to build the Lower Arun in the construction modality of Arun III.
