The parliamentary committee has instructed the government to control the abnormal prices of daily consumer goods and services before the festival begins. The Federalism Strengthening and National Concerns Committee meeting held on Tuesday under the National Assembly gave this instruction to the government.
Speaking at the meeting, committee chairman Sonam Galgen Sherpa directed the effective implementation of the fundamental rights provided by the Constitution of Nepal in the context of the widespread unrest caused by the artificial shortage of daily consumables and essential goods and services in the market and the problem of black market.
The committee has also instructed to prevent artificial shortage and black market by easily supplying quality goods and services across the country. He instructed to monitor the market regularly and to expand the time period and regional scope of the fair price shop immediately so that it would be easily accessible to the general public. He said that while continuing the
consumer awareness program, he would instruct the government of Nepal to monitor the market effectively in coordination with the three levels of government and arrange to keep a price list in every shop.
