The wind storm that came in Chitwan on Friday and Saturday evening has caused huge damage to banana cultivation. Almost all the banana plants in the large banana plantations in Ratnanagar, Khairhani, Rapti and Kalika municipal areas in the eastern part of Chitwan have fallen. The Chitwan Banana Producers Association of Naksan Nagar has said that the western region of the district has suffered a lot.

Madhav Prasad Ghimire, President of Chitwan Banana Producers Association, said that the bananas that are ready to be taken to the market after 15 days of the coming week have suffered financial loss due to falling and damage.

He said that the details of the damage are being collected and it seems that the banana plantation planted in about 2,000 to 2,500 bighas has been damaged by the storm. According to him, about 12 crores worth of banana crops have been damaged due to collapse.

'Chitwan has 3500 bighas of banana cultivation . Most of them are in the eastern part of Chitwan. There is no such damage as the wind is not very strong in the west. "There is no banana plantation in the eastern region that is not damaged," said General Secretary of the Chitwan Banana Producers' Association, Janakraj Pant.

Chitwan Khairhani-6 All the bananas in the garden of Asika Malla, who cultivated bananas by renting about 11 bighas of land in Tulsipur, have fallen. Bananas from his garden were sold after a week. "Now after falling, nobody buys these bananas that are a little budded." Now to prepare the ground to plant new bananas by removing the fallen trees Eight million rupees can be spent. The big one is in trouble Malle said, "When you look at the fallen banana field, the ringta moves and it looks like a fall."

The former president of Chitwan Banana Producers Association, Bishnuhari Pant, claimed that the damage done by Hawahuri to Chitwan's banana cultivation is the biggest so far. There is insurance for banana cultivation. But since the insurance payment for the damage done last year is still pending, he said that he could not say when the payment for the damage will be made now. Farmers have been hit hard this time. If nothing else, even if the insurance amount had been paid early, we would have received relief' said Pant.
