Atishi is going to be the new Chief Minister of Delhi state of India. After the resignation of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Atishi will become the new Chief Minister.

Aam Aadmi Party's legislative party meeting held on Tuesday decided to make Atishi the new Chief Minister. Aam Aadmi Party MP Gopal Rai said that Atishi was promoted as the chief minister unanimously by the legislative party meeting.

When Chief Minister Kejriwal was in jail, Atishi held the main 'portfolio' of the government. Atishi, who also holds the chief department of education, is seen as a confidant of Kejriwal. It is said that Kejriwal will submit his resignation to Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena shortly.

Arvind Kejriwal was released on September 13 after the order of the Supreme Court. He announced his resignation while addressing the workers at the party office on September 15. Kejriwal has also demanded that elections should be held along with Maharashtra state in February. Kejriwal was jailed in the alleged liquor corruption case.
