Nobel Peace Prize-winning professor Mohammad Yunus has agreed to become the chief adviser to the interim government to be formed in Bangladesh. The Daily Star, citing reliable sources, said that Professor Yunus has agreed to lead the interim government.

Quoting Yunus' statement, Daily Star wrote, 'Initially when the students approached me, I did not agree . I told them I have a lot of work to do . But the students kept insisting .'

It is written in the Daily Star about the request made by the students to Yunus, 'Many people have lost their lives in this movement, including students and common people . Now the opportunity has come to run Bangladesh properly . And, this is only possible when you take responsibility . If you're not ready, it's going to be better for us . That is why we have asked you to take responsibility.'

Yunus is currently abroad. He went to participate in the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics. After the decision, his foreign trip has been extended for treatment. It is said that he will return to the country soon. Earlier, Yunus had commented that Bangladesh has become 'free' after the resignation of Sheikh Hasina .

He said in a conversation with the Indian media The Print that the country under Hasina's occupation is free. The Awami League-led government has accused Yunus of more than 190 charges. Yunus has accused Hasina of destroying the legacy of her father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
