The Wagmati state government has honored Palesha Govardhan, who won a medal in the Paris Para Olympics, with Rs. On the occasion of Constitution Day on Thursday, bronze medalist Palesha was honored with a market walk in Hetaunda.
Erika Gurung, who won a historic silver medal for Nepal in karate at the 19th Asian Games with Palesha, was honored with 5 lakhs. . Palesha's coach Kaviraj Negi was given 2 lakh rupees and Nepal Taekwondo Association Wagmati Province Committee was given 1 lakh rupees.
Erica won a historic silver in the women's 68 kg weight group at Asiad. The state government has given Rs 1 lakh to his trainer Kushal Shrestha and Rs 1 lakh to the Wagmati State Committee of the Nepal Karate Federation.
Wagmati Chief Minister Bahadur Singh Lama, Sports Minister Minkrishna Maharjan handed over certificates and cash to them. In the
ceremony, Economic Affairs and Law Minister Kundanraj Kafle, Internal Affairs and Law Minister Surajchandra Lamichhane pledged to provide necessary support to the development of sports.
The Nepali karate team including Erica and Kushal has now reached China to play in the Asian Championship.
