Nepalese player Vivek Thing won the second round of the 45th Chess Olympiad in Budapest, Hungary.
On Saturday, he defeated international player Baki Bens of the host Hungary . Vivek defeated the German player in the first round.
candidate Master Vivek will now compete against Hungarian IM Mesjaros Andras in the third round. Nepal's top 2282 rated Vivek will play against 2119 rated Andras from Kalogoti.
Only Vivek from Nepal is participating in the competition being held at the sports hall in Budapest. Other competing players from Nepal could not participate because they did not get a visa.
Vivek has increased 4 ratings from two games. According to the Nepal Intelligence Federation, the first FIDE Master's title will be obtained based on 2300 rating performance if they can increase 18 ratings from this competition.
Vivek, who arrived in Hungary from Australia, has shown potential in intelligence by playing well in European soil. The winner will receive 375 euros, the second 300 euros, the third 250 euros.
