Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava has inspected the motorable bridge connecting Nepal-India under construction at Ashigada in Darchula. Ambassador Srivastava made an on-site inspection of the motor bridge connecting Mahakali municipality-8 Ashigadama near Darchula headquarters and Charchum in Pithoragarh district of India.

Second bridge with India is being built in Darchula after Tanakpur in Far West Province. It is the first motorized bridge in the hilly district on the border with India. During the inspection of the bridge, Ambassador Shristava instructed the builders to complete the construction work as soon as possible.

He said that there should be coordination between the technicians of both countries to build the structure and the access road so that there will be problems in checking the traffic on both sides of the bridge.

According to the construction company, the work of the 110-meter-long motorized bridge being constructed by the Indian side is going on in full swing. The bridge is being constructed by Indian company P&R Infraproject Limited Panja . The construction of the bridge has been started at a cost of 329 million Indian rupees.

After the construction of the bridge, the relationship between the two countries will be strengthened at the government and civil level, and the local agricultural products, herbs, metals and raw materials of Darchula will also be facilitated in the international trade, the locals said. The locals are happy with the construction of a concrete bridge over the Mahakali river for the first time in the district. According to the bilateral construction agreement, the construction of this bridge should be completed this year.

It is customary for ambassadors or representatives of embassies to come for foundation building, opening and monitoring of structures built with Indian investment. Chief District Officer Yagyaraj Joshi said that the team led by Ambassador Srivastava is monitoring the bridges and schools built in Darchula.
