President Ramchandra Paudel visited the Bhagwati Temple at Bhagwatitol, Tansen Municipality-3, Palpa on Tuesday and offered prayers. President Paudel visited Bhagwati temple and worshiped Bhagwati and accepted flower prasad tika from the original priest along with seeing Bhagwati Rathayatra (Khat Yatra) celebrated at Tansen in Palpa every year on the day after Shri Krishna Janmashtami.

Earlier, Lumbini Chief Minister Chetnarayan Acharya, Speaker of Lumbini State Assembly Tularam Gharti, Federal MP elected from Palpa Thakur Gayre, Narayan Acharya and Minister of Economic Affairs and Planning of Lumbini State Assembly Dhanendra Karki, Health Minister Khem Saru, State Assembly Member Bir Bahadur Rana, District Coordination Chief welcomed President Poudel at the Bhagwati temple complex. Tankanath Khanal, Chief District Officer of Palpa, Anand Prasad Kafle, Town Chief of Tansen Municipality, Santosh Lal Shrestha, etc. welcomed.

After visiting the temple and receiving prasad, President Paudel observed the Bhagwati Rath Yatra from the roof of the Palpa Industry and Commerce Association . Defense Minister Manbir Rai, Tourism Minister Badri Pandey, who came with President Paudel and others Along with watching the Jatra, worshiped at the Bhagwati Temple.

Chairman of the temple management committee Ashok Maharjan informed that the head of state visited for the first time on the occasion of Bhagwati Jatra. He also said that every year during the Bhagwati Rath Yatra, they have been asked to establish a tradition of visiting the temple and offering prayers.

. Every year Bhagwati Jatra is held at Tansen in Palpa on the day of Bhadra Krishna Navami to celebrate the defeat of the British army at Jeetgarhi in Nuwakot during the Nepal-British war. Chairman of the Temple Management Committee, Maharjan, said that every year on Bhadra Krishna Navami, Rath Yatra is being taken out to remember that Colonel Ujirsinh Thapa, who was stationed at Palpa at that time, saved Nuwakot from the attack of the British Empire in Jeetgarhi.

The then colonel Thapa worshiped and vowed to Bhagwati before going to war to win the victory. After the victory in the war, the construction started in 1872 and it is mentioned in the history that the three-story temple was completed in 1876. Historians have mentioned that the army led by Colonel Ujirsinh Thapa defeated the British army at Jeetgarhi on 7th Baisakh 1872.

Meanwhile, President Ramchandra Paudel's press advisor Kiran Pokharel spoke to journalists and informed that he wished happiness, peace and well-being of all Nepalis on the occasion of Khatyatra.

President Paudel also informed that he has drawn the attention of related agencies to implement the recommendation made by the Department of Archeology to build the temple of Ranujeshwari Bhagwati in the old style with three floors.

Palpa Palace and the entire palace complex including the museum built there have been informed to realize the desire and effort to develop the palace complex as a tourist area and list it in the world heritage list. Press Advisor Pokharel informed the journalists that President Paudel expressed his belief that the government preparations to declare the Rath Yatra as a national festival from the state level will be completed soon.
