The Baglung section of the Kaligandaki Corridor, which was blocked for two weeks and was operational only four days ago, has been blocked again.
Due to the incessant rain since Monday night, a landslide swept away the corridor in Ecclesal of Dablyang of Baglung Municipality-10. Deputy Superintendent of Police Vijay Yadav said that the road has been blocked since Tuesday morning. Although efforts are being made to open it immediately, it could not be opened due to the fall of the ledo.
This landslide has damaged two roundabouts on the Maldhunga Kushmisera road here, traffic has been stopped since the third week of June. Hundreds of commuters have suffered due to road blockage. The residents of Dakshin Baglung have struggled to come to the headquarters for medical treatment, essential services, etc. The students here have suffered to come and go to school.
Since four years ago, this landslide has caused suffering to the locals. Baglung Municipality has worked to remove landslides and operate the road here on a daily basis, but it has not been possible, said Raju Khadka, deputy mayor of the municipality.
By making a concrete structure, construction of drains and gabion nets have also been done in some places for regular traffic. A concrete wall has also been installed on the south side of the landslide. But in the middle section, the condition of flowing water The road could not be opened due to non-stopping.
