The Shila in Bhimeshwar temple in Dolakha has been 'sweating' since Saturday afternoon. Rajendra Shrestha of the temple management committee said that 'sweating' started on the rock of Bhimeshwar from 1:40 in the afternoon.
He informed that 'sweat' is continuously coming from Shila's left side. Shrestha said that after 'sweating' on the stone of Bhimeshwar, devotees and locals would gather in the temple premises and ring bells with instruments and light incense.
It is popularly believed that the black water drops on the Shila (rock) of Bhimeshwar are caused by 'sweating'. A large crowd of people who take cotton to wipe the 'sweat' on the stone is in the temple. After 'sweating' on the stone of the temple, the priest informed the locals and the temple management committee.
Soon after the news of 'sweating', district administration, police, Nepali army and other chiefs and representatives reached the temple. There is a popular belief that if there is sweat on the rock of Bhimeshwar, it is a sign of change. It is customary for the head of the state to offer pardon due to 'sweating' on the stone. For which the issue of pardon from the president is being discussed.
It is a custom to distribute the cotton after wiping the 'sweat' to the head of state and common people. It is customary to put the cotton in an envelope and deliver it to the President. During the reign of the king, it was customary to offer forgiveness from the royal family, but now it is being offered from the president. In Vikram Samvat 1990, 2007, 2028 and 2070 and 2077, there was 'sweat' on the rock of Bhimeshwar.
