Locals have locked the ward office of Jiri Municipality-7 for not buying paddy after raising the partnership funds for the purchase of buffalo paddy under the partnership program for livestock farmers.

Locals locked the ward on Thursday saying that the ward did not distribute padi after raising 560,000 rupees for the distribution of padi through a partnership program with 56 locals. After the lockdown, the work of the ward has stopped.

Under the partnership program allocated by the Wagmati state government, Jiri municipality allocated 1 million wards for animal husbandry promotion program in the last financial year. But the chairman of that ward, Shant Nepali, has said that the locals have closed the door because they have not bought paddy after raising funds for the partnership.

Similarly, the local people have alleged that even the 2 lakh budget for agriculture and animal husbandry for the poor and Dalits has been misused by the people's representatives by buying quadrupeds. While trying to contact Chairman Shant Nepali, his phone was switched off. Ward member Deepak Jirel said that 7 wards were selected from the province through the partnership program and a budget of 1 million was received. He said that only about 60 people came when he asked for an application from the farmers under the partnership for paddy distribution. Jirel said that due to the program for 100 farmers, padi could not be distributed in the last financial year.

He also informed that the money will not be distributed in installments but will be returned to those who have deposited the money as it is frozen. Dinesh Jirel, the ward secretary of the said ward, said that he was not aware of the partnership program. He said that the work of the ward was stopped due to the lockdown.
