Only 55 lakh rupees will be spent on managing the goods which are rotting in the Sirsia dry port without being taken by the importer. Although the customs office at the port took 304 such containers to the auction process, since the rotten items in the 217 containers were not auctioned, they had to be managed, so it is estimated that this amount will be spent on management.

Dhan Bahadur Baruwal, chief customs officer of the customs office, said that 43 lakh 40 thousand kg of goods should be managed in 217 containers at the rate of at least 2/2 ton.

'After a three-stage discussion with the Mayor of Birgunj Rajeshman Singh, the city is ready to dispose of the rotting material in the port complex at the rate of 1 rupees 25 paisa per kg,' he said, 'Now, efforts are being made to request that budget after coordinating with the customs department. , after approval from the department, the management process will be started .'

He said that since it is not possible to bury so many items on his own land in the port complex and it would cost 3 to 4 million rupees, he said that in coordination with the office of the Metropolitan Municipality, an easy way of management was sought at the landfill site .

There are 217 containers stored in the south part of the port for a long time. Offset machines, auto parts, computer parts, masa dal, musuro dal, betel nuts, poppy seeds, etc., in more than 200 containers, worth about 200 million rupees have been auctioned and the revenue has been collected.

Since three months, the office has repeatedly published notices and taken those items to the auction process . It has become a problem to manage the goods that are not auctioned due to decay.

Most of them were pulses, grains, betel nuts, poppy seeds etc. and perishable items. After the importer did not bring the container for about 5 years, finally the port customs office took the container to the auction process .

Baruwal says that even though the useful and non-useful items in the container have been separated, the confiscation has not been done, as it would be a technical complication to start the management process, now the process of confiscation will also be started . Bad smell has also started coming from the rotten food and food items in the port.

Baruwal says that during the summer season, when those rotten items are transported to the landfill site, the stench on the road and around the port can cause problems for the public, so the stench will be reduced by the management work in the month of November/Pus.
