As the incidents of drowning of children, women and senior citizens are increasing in the society, the parliamentarians have demanded to be sensitive about it and make a law. The MPs made this demand in the Tuesday meeting held in Janakpur of the Madhesh State Assembly.

The parliamentarians have also suggested that drowning deaths should be prevented by introducing water safety policies and laws.

Chief Whip of Congress Kunwarkant Jha demanded that the state government should bring a program to prevent the death of children drowning in Madhesh. "Only last Wednesday, 3 children drowned in my village Laxminia, Dhanusha," he said, "It is a matter of great pain." They drowned while going to take a bath.'

Democratic Socialist Party (LOSP) state MP Upendra Mahato accused the government at all three levels of not being serious about the safety of the citizens. He said that although the death rate of children drowning in water is high in Madhesh, the three levels of the government have not paid attention to it. "If the union and local government do nothing, the state government will have to stop the drowning of children," he said, "the state government should bring a law for water disaster management." He also said that 81 people died by drowning. He said that there are 287 children in them. This is police data. Some events can be found at the local level. UML State MP Dipendra Thakur said that despite children drowning in Madhesh, nothing could be done because the police and administration did not listen to them.
