As the service started to be affected due to lack of staff, the Narayani Hospital here issued a notice on August 11 for the recruitment of 47 employees (doctors and health workers) in four posts. However, on August 16, the Ministry of Health and Population sent a letter to the hospital to postpone the entire process related to admission until the further decision of the Ministry.

Narayani Hospital had published a notice that the vacant positions in this hospital should be filled in contract services under the procedure of managing doctors or health workers in contract service 2076 and Hospital Pharmacy Directory 2072. 8th level Medical Officer 5, Staff Nurse 25, Pharmacy Assistant 4 and Unami 2 were published.

Earlier on June 14, the hospital had called for a seven-day notice for the recruitment of 33 employees in 27 posts on contract service. About two hundred people also applied. However, by the verbal order of the ministry, the admission process was also postponed. Similarly, on June 10, with the help of UNICEF, the recruitment process of two staff nurses had reached its final stage. According to the hospital administration branch, two people were selected in the oral examination. All that was left was to sign the contract. However, after the verbal order of the ministry, that process was also cancelled.

At the end of last May, Narayani Hospital removed 47 employees working on daily wages. Two weeks after being appointed as Acting Medical Superintendent (MESU), Dr. Enamul Haque dismissed 47 health workers and staff including doctors, staff nurses, saying that the financial burden of the hospital was increased due to daily wage workers . Eleven medical officers of the eighth level, one medical officer of the seventh level, 12 staff nurses, three health assistants, five radiographers, four Ahabs, and seven office assistants were removed.

After the removal of daily wage employees, the process of taking new hires on contract has been postponed time and time again, and the service of the hospital has been affected . Patients are forced to go to private hospitals due to lack of manpower. According to Dheeraj Gupta, chairman of the hospital development committee, due to lack of coordination with the ministry and lack of process, the recruitment of employees under the contract has been stopped. "In the earlier notification, the deadline for applying was set for only seven days," President Gupta said, "There was no coordination with the ministry when the current notification was called. Whereas, when recruiting employees in the contract, there is a provision that the ministry will also be a member of the vacancy committee.'

According to him, the vacant posts should have been filled so that the hospital's services would not be affected. "Forty-seven employees were removed without coordination," President Gupta said. Haque said that the recruitment process will be started again in coordination with the ministry. "The ministry has not revealed any reason regarding the postponement of the admission process," Mesu said, "We will start the process again."

Service affected due to lack of manpower
Cardiology Unit (CCU) of the hospital has been closed for the last three and a half months. The CCU, which was operating with 8 beds in the past, is currently at a standstill due to lack of manpower. Earlier, 48 beds were operational in the medical ward of the hospital . At present only 31 beds are in operation . Due to the lack of manpower, 5 beds have been reduced in the pediatric ICU, while the surgical ward is operating with 10 beds less than in the past. In the past, 12 health workers were working in kidney dialysis, but now only 6 people are working . According to the administration branch, the ministry has instructed to establish a cancer center in Narayani by August 25. "However, neither Darbandi nor machinery has been sent for that," says an officer of the administration, "how can the service be started only with instructions!" Ninth level gastroenterologist Dr. Arun Gyawali and ninth level nephrologist Dr. Niraj Dhakal is currently working elsewhere. According to the hospital administration branch, both of them went on leave within a few days of appearing. According to the decision of the ministry on July 30, Dr. Gyawali Lumbini in the chief minister's office and Dr. Dhakal Veer is working at the hospital.

dr. 30 doctors and health workers, including Gyawali and Dr. Dhakal, are posted at Narayani Hospital but are posted elsewhere in the records of the administration branch. The service day is not over.'
There are 321 staff posts from the Government of Nepal and the Hospital Development Committee, of which only 234 people are employed. Narayani Hospital, where about 1,400 patients come to the OPD daily, although 500 beds have been approved, it is currently operating with only 286 beds.
