Itahari sub-metropolitan city has started subsidized electric city bus service within the city for common citizens.

Hemkarna, head of the sub-metropolitan city Paudel launched 4 electric city buses within the city area from Wednesday. On Wednesday and Thursday, common people will be able to ride the bus for free. Paudel, the head of the city, said that passengers will be transported at concessions from Friday.

The bus will be operated from 7 am to 11 am and from 2 pm to 7 pm and the bus fare will be Rs. 20. "Passengers will be taken to their destinations within the city after paying a small fee", city chief Paudel said, "the electric bus service will be environment-friendly, safe, reliable, and consumer-oriented."

The electric bus service has been started with the aim of connecting people from the rural areas of the city to the city. Mayor Paudel claims to be the first local government to operate city buses. The bus is also disabled friendly.

Sub-metropolitan in an agreement with National Fire Safe Pvt. Ltd. 4 city buses have been purchased. The bus has been brought at a cost of Rs 6 crore 36 lakh 86 thousand.
