39-year-old Lakshman Rai of Kepilasgarhi Rural Municipality-1 Fedi thought that he would join politics after completing his studies. However, that did not happen in his life. When he completed his master's degree in political science in 2075, he turned to sheep farming.
He says that he studied political science to gain knowledge about politics. He said, "I started sheep herding in the year 2077 after returning to the village after completing my post-graduate studies at the Mahendra Multipurpose Campus in Dharan. Now I'm starting to enjoy it.'
Now he spends his days taking care of 500 sheep. "Sheep breeding was started together with Antare (the fifth of the six brothers)," he said. 20 lakhs of income. He says that by cutting everything, five to six lakh rupees will be saved annually. 
It is not that he is not interested in politics. However, he says that circumstances have made sheep shepherds. "In the local elections of 2079, I was a candidate for the post of ward president on behalf of the Maoists, but I lost," he said. He says that he started sheep rearing because he needed money for politics. "Recently, there is no politics without money," he said, "that's why I came here." "First of all, people who are educated do not live in the village, even if they do, they do not like to do small jobs in the village, they go out and adopt any kind of profession," he said, "I have adopted this profession because of that." . According to him, problems occur due to wild animals, poisonous grass, epidemics, etc. However, despite all these challenges, he says that he adopted this profession to do something in the village.
Now his large herd is in Maiyu, the border of Khotang and Bhojpur. Eight shepherds from Khotang and three from Bhojpur are grazing their sheep in Maiyu. He narrates that the farmer's distaste for sheep rearing has arisen in recent times. He said that farmers are discouraged from raising sheep due to lack of pasture, lack of manpower, etc. "Compared to before, half of the farmers have stopped raising sheep now," he said.
Even though sheep grazing has decreased, he said that he plans to organize it. "The future looks good from sheep farming, the market is also good, the income is also good," he said, "if the plan is made well, its future is good." I am enjoying it right now.'
