With the increase in the number of farmers growing Sarifa, the market for this fruit has also expanded. For some years, this fruit has been reaching various markets in the East including Kathmandu. In the past, Sarifa, which was limited only to the forest, has been planted by the local people in their fields and started commercial production.

Local traders say that Sarifa, which has been available in the local market since the month of August, is raised by almost one farmer group and sold for more than five lakhs. Similarly, businessman Jitendra Rai said that Sarifa is bought from local farmers at an average price of 50 rupees per kg and exported to Kathmandu, Biratnagar and other places. "Now the commercial business of Sarifa has started," he said, "along with the local market, exports from here have also increased."

He is not the only one dealing with the said fruit. Rai said that there are at least six other traders who buy from local producers and export outside the district. He is among those who do the most business. He says that alone he is selling more than five lakh sarifs.

Prem Hombarak, a local who is involved in Sarifa's business, also said that he got a good income. He says that people like Koseli buy Sarifa and bring it outside the district. Dhankuta Municipality-8 Santang, Tetredang, Yakte and other areas have been producing commercially by the locals. Jiddha Bahadur Athapaharia, a farmer of Tetredang, said that he used to take a commercial vehicle to Botai to buy sarifa at that place. Local farmers have been buying in groups and selling through farmers since they don't have to transport and take them elsewhere.

After increasing the demand for Sarifa found in the forest, local farmers have started to produce commercial crops by planting plants in the fields. Athapaharia, who has been bringing plants from the forest and producing commercially in an area of 6 plants, said that he earned 50,000 rupees in a month by selling local sarifa.

'Nowadays the price is better than in the past,' he said, 'They come all the way to buy sarifa, there is no hassle of carrying it to the market.' The local Devkumari Athapaharia said that sarifa grows especially in the forests of Bensi area during two months from August. She informed that she is earning around 50,000 from 50 Sarifa plants.

Sarifa is considered to be a completely organic fruit, so the demand for it in the market is high, said Athapaharia. "Sarifa, which grows on its own in the garden, is now profitable," she said, "it is easy because it bears fruit without any special effort." . "At least Sarifa is not damaged by wild animals or any other animals, so it is becoming a reliable source of income for us farmers in rural areas."
