Locals of Chekethum located in Barahpokhari Rural Municipality-2 Suntale are at high risk of landslides. The locals are at risk due to the landslide that started in 2056 from Mastpukhola, which is below the village.

According to ward president Padam Magar, the landslide that started in 2056 has increased even more after the 2072 earthquake. Magar said that 28 families have been displaced by landslides in 25 years.

Among those displaced by the landslide, Danda Bahadur Tamang and Dambar Bahadur Tamang have migrated to Rajabas in the neighboring district of Udaipur, while other 26 families have moved by purchasing land elsewhere.

The number of displaced people is increasing every year due to landslides. This year the house of Khadga Bahadur Thapamgar, Parshuram Magar and Gopal Magar is at high risk . Magar said that there is a landslide every year in August and October at that place. When the sun starts to shine after raining, the ground starts to crack.

There are 61 families living here with Janchetna Basic School. "If the landslide is not controlled, it seems that Chekethum will have to be displaced," said the ward president, Magar.
