A soldier working at Birtamod in Jhapa was arrested with one gram of brown heroin on May 7. But after failing to pay the bail, he was sent to Jhapa jail.

On October 1, 2080, a policeman in Morang was not only dismissed, but the district court in Morang sentenced him to 10 years imprisonment and a fine of 75,000 rupees. Another policeman working in District Police Office Morang also lost his job. At the same time, the court ordered 1 year imprisonment on November 26.

It has been found that some of the policemen working in the border areas of Koshi province are drug addicts. It has been revealed that some of them are also involved in drug trafficking. According to the Koshi Province Police Office, Biratnagar, in the financial year 2078/079, 2 people were suspended from service and prosecuted for using drugs. This number doubled in 2079/080. That year, 2 policemen working in Ilam and 2 working in Morang were suspended and prosecuted. Similarly, in 2080/081, a case was filed against 7 policemen. 2 of them have been dismissed from their jobs and 5 have been suspended. Three police prisons have already been opened. "Taking drugs as a police officer is a crime against the organization," said a police officer in Jhapa, "Policemen are not allowed to commit crimes". He said that such police have been punished according to the rules of the organization. "We have sent some to jail, some have been given a chance to improve," he said.
