Chairman of CPN-Maoist Center and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the rulers do not have the freedom to do anything because they have a majority and said that if they do so, it will lead to an unfortunate situation similar to Bangladesh.

He said this while discussing the latest political developments in the neighboring country Bangladesh with journalists at the Biratnagar Airport on Monday. "We also need to learn a lot from the incident in Bangladesh," he said.

He said that he is also in favor of constitutional amendment, but if there is an attempt to curtail people's rights, he will oppose it. "We are not against the amendment of the constitution," he said, "but it is never acceptable for us to curtail people's rights in the name of it."

Dahal's opinion was that the constitution should be amended to give more rights to the oppressed caste, class, region and gender. President Dahal also said that it is not possible to amend the constitution only by working together with Congress and UML.
