The news published on August 26 in Kantipur titled 'Badshah knelt in front of Mahila Andolanka, resigned from the minister of Lumbini' has revealed the bitter truth about the qualifications and conduct of the federal and state governments. To be appointed as a member of the Council of Ministers, one must at least not be involved in criminal activities.

However, Kurmi was appointed as the minister of Lumbini province after the police investigation concluded that he should be prosecuted for crimes including kidnapping and body hostage, criminal treachery including fraud, criminal gain, bribery and money laundering. He was forced to resign only after extreme opposition from the public.

Shouldn't we know about the past of the person concerned before appointing him to the post of minister? It does not seem appropriate for a government that has given the post of minister to a criminal to put on the slogan of good governance and prosperity.
