An arrest warrant has been issued against 3 people including medical practitioner Durga Prasai. The Kathmandu District Court has allowed the police to arrest Prasai, Jeevan Pandey and Prakashchandra Dahal on charges of violating the provisions of the Electronic Transactions Act.
After receiving a complaint against the three, the Cyber Bureau of the police sought permission from the Kathmandu court to arrest them. Judge Mahendra Kafle's bench issued the arrest warrant, said Ramu Sharma, the court's chief justice. Plainclothes police reached Prasai's house in Thimi after receiving the supplies. Prasain criticized the government by holding a press conference.
A police officer said that the complaint is being investigated and the investigation will be carried out by arresting or monitoring as necessary. "They have been kept under surveillance as they may carry out activities against the Constitution Day on Thursday," said the police officer. Prasain is the director of B&C Medical College, Jhapa. The Medical Education Commission has decided that B&C will get affiliation from Kathmandu University to teach MBBS from this year.
Prasain has recently been in the country by conducting the 'Rashtra, Nationality, Religion, Culture and Civil Protection Campaign'. He has been saying that the monarchy should be restored. On the day of Constitution Day, the campaign has organized a program at Lalbandi in Sarlahi.
In February 2074, Prasai came into the limelight in the political circles after the picture of UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal being served food at his house was published. Before that he was active in getting affiliation to his medical college. Prasai, a resident of Jhapa, was close to Maoist Chairman Dahal till then.
After the establishment of CPN by merging UML and Maoists, his reach reached Oli. UML joined in 2078 after CPN split. After the tenth convention, Oli nominated him as a central member. The Deputy Head of Industry, Commerce and Supply Department of UML was also elected. However, suddenly on February 7, 2079, former king Gyanendra Shah inaugurated the campaign led by him in Kakadvitta.
Since then, he has been making statements against Oli, Dahal, some businessmen and the bank and financial sector, and has been holding programs at various places in the country. On March 5, the police recovered semi-automatic weapons and 100 bullets from Prasain's accomplices from the Supreme Court premises. It was found that he had obtained permission from the Jhapa District Administration Office to keep weapons.
