Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ajay Kumar Chaurasia has expressed a commitment that the constitution will not be amended by curtailing anyone's rights.

Law Minister Chaurasia, while participating in the discussion on the Unified Election Act Draft Bill held by the Central Working Committee of Nepal Women's Association in Kathmandu on Thursday, made it clear that the constitution will not be amended by curtailing the rights of women, Dalits, Madhesi, tribals, Muslims, etc.

He said that while there is talk of amending the constitution, there is an attempt to spread confusion and the constitution will not be amended by cutting the rights of any sector, class, gender and community given by the constitution. He said that there will be no amendment to reduce the existing system and that there will be no amendment to reduce the people's representatives at union, state and local levels.

Minister Chaurasia claimed that the constitution will be amended to strengthen the inclusive and proportional system by empowering tribals, tribes, Dalits, women and backward classes and communities. He said.

He said, 'Now the matter of amending the constitution is also being raised. One thing I want to assure . Even if this constitution is amended, the rights of women, Dalits, Madhesi, tribals, Muslims etc. will not be curtailed. By reducing the current system, whether it is the people's representative, whether it is in the union, in the state, in the local body. If it happens more than that, women will contest elections with women, Dalits will contest elections with Dalits, tribes will contest elections with tribes, clusters belonging to other clusters will contest elections.'
