The government has decided to hold local by-elections on November 16. Government spokesperson Prithvisubba Gurung informed that the Council of Ministers meeting held on Sunday decided to hold by-elections at the local level on the 16th of November on the recommendation of the Election Commission.

On Sunday, officials of the commission met Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and proposed to hold by-elections on November 16.

At present, 41 seats are vacant, including 2 heads of district coordination committee, 2 rural village presidents, 4 vice presidents, 10 ward presidents and 1 municipal mayor, 1 deputy mayor and 21 ward presidents.
