The appointment of the Chief Justice was discussed in the meeting of the Constitutional Council. In a meeting held at the Prime Minister's official residence, Baluwatar, on Friday, the appointment of the Chief Justice was discussed, but no decision was made.
Another meeting will be held on 31st August for further discussion. Deputy Speaker Indira Ranamar informed Kantipur that although there was a discussion on the appointment of the Chief Justice in Friday's meeting, there was no decision.
'Today's meeting discussed the appointment of the Chief Justice . But no decision has been made . It has been discussed again and discussed in the next meeting,' she said.
The current Chief Justice Vishwambhar Prasad is going to retire from October 19 due to his age limit of 65 years. The Judicial Council has recommended the names of 8 senior judges for the appointment of the Chief Justice. According to
ranking, the names of judges Prakashman Singh Raut, Nahkul Subedi, Sapna Pradhan Malla, Prakash Kumar Dhungana, Kumar Regmi, Hariprasad Phunyal, Manoj Sharma and Kumar Chundal have reached the council.
Chief Justice Shrestha, Speaker of the House of Representatives Devraj Ghimire, Speaker of the National Assembly Narayan Dahal, Leader of the main opposition party Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Indira Ranamar participated in the meeting chaired by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
