Iraq has shown willingness to take skilled workers from Nepal. Iraq has shown this desire by proposing to enter into a labor agreement with Nepal.

Najam Mirzan, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Iraq to India in New Delhi, has requested Acting Ambassador Surendra Thapa in New Delhi to take skilled workers from Nepal. The Embassy of Iraq in Delhi also looks after Nepal.

The Nepali Embassy said that during the meeting held in Delhi last Tuesday, there was a discussion between them about taking skilled workers from Nepal to Iraq. We are now embarking on infrastructure development, for which many workers are needed, we have heard the appreciation of the work of Nepalis everywhere. Therefore, Iraq is willing to take skilled workers from Nepal who can work in infrastructure development,' the embassy said, quoting Mirzan.

Thapa has sent Iraq's request to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Now the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will cooperate with the Ministry of Labor to respond to Iraq . According to foreign sources, the Nepali side will take any decision only after studying and reviewing the current security of Iraq and possible threats in the future.

Nepal has been banning travel or employment in Libya and Syria along with Iraq citing security reasons.
