Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the national aspiration of 'prosperous Nepal, happy Nepali' will be fulfilled by absorbing the national and international commitments regarding the fundamental rights and human rights of the constitution.

Inaugurating a three-day international conference of human rights organizations in the Asia-Pacific region on gender inclusion organized by the National Human Rights Commission today, Prime Minister Oli clarified that the constitution of Nepal has enshrined many questions of fundamental rights and the government is committed to complying with them literally, stating that the caste system has been legally ended.

Mentioning that at least 33 percent participation of women in all bodies of the state at all three levels was ensured by the Parliament before the constitution was made, he said that this is an important achievement. Prime Minister Oli presented examples of the country's first female President, Chief Justice, Speaker of the House of Representatives and Chief Secretary, and said that necessary facilitation is being done to increase women's participation in all state agencies.

He opined that 20 percent of the citizens in Nepal are still below the absolute poverty line and it will not be possible to empower all citizens without fulfilling the goal of poverty alleviation. He said, 'We will fully implement the essence and spirit of the fundamental rights of the constitution. We are committed to the implementation of international commitments and agreements. We will eliminate poverty in Nepal. We will fulfill the goal of a prosperous Nepal, a happy Nepali.'

Since the people cannot be made happy without making the country prosperous, he informed that he is working with the government and the Human Rights Commission to achieve the common goal of social justice and equality. 'Prosperity alone does not work for the development of the country. People should experience a dignified life with peace, security and rights. The government is working for that,' he said.
