The General Secretary of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Netra Vikram Chand has requested the government to make a law to bring the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) project under the jurisdiction of Nepal under the US Grant Cooperation Agreement.

He mentioned that the Parliament of Nepal has accepted the project with the aim of making Nepal neo-colonial and demanded that the government should make a law to bring it fully under Nepal.

Speaking at an interaction program held on Tuesday in Kathmandu, General Secretary Chand also clarified that his party's belief is that the Parliament should enact a law to fully implement, monitor and control the MCC. He also asked the legal experts to argue in the court for that. Although MCC is not in the interest of Nepal, there is no possibility of canceling it immediately, General Secretary Chand said that Nepal should take initiative to control it by law.

It is not immediately possible to cancel it. The Parliament of Nepal should immediately make a law to bring MCC under its authority. Let the Parliament of Nepal pass such a law. "Who should have the right to monitor, control and mobilize the MCC," he said.

Secretary General Chand also took the position that the US cannot accept MCC and other projects to expand its military strategy.
