Ruling Congress MP Narayan Prasad (NP) Saud has demanded the government to immediately solve the problem of the victims of Shuklaphata reserve in Kanchanpur. In Tuesday's meeting of the House of Representatives, MP Saud said that 40 years ago, the government took the land of the common people for the Shuklaphanta reserve but did not give compensation.

MP Saud demanded that a non-political commission should be formed to compensate the victims of Shuklaphanta reserve.

'It has been 40 years since the government took the land of the farmers for the expansion of Shuklaphanta Wildlife Reserve in Kanchanpur district . Even after forming 32 commissions in 40 years and spending crores of rupees, the problem has not been resolved. Since the government has taken land to expand the corridor for the distribution of wildlife during the rainy season, many farmers are still living under the trees because of the lack of compensation and relief," MP Saud said. For relief, it was recommended to provide one to five plots of land or 500,000 by looking at the distance from the road. But since the said land and relief amount is less, the detained victims are still protesting today, demanding that it be increased.'

Saud said that a way should be found to compensate the victims immediately. "I strongly request the government of Nepal to form a non-political commission under the chairmanship of a former judge to solve this problem immediately in a victim-friendly way," he said.
