MP Sobita Gautam has demanded compensation and justice for Gamala Gelal of Kathmandu Shankharapur Municipality, who suffered kidney failure due to two drugs used during maternity surgery.

In Tuesday's meeting of the House of Representatives, RSWP MP Gautam said that because of the medicine used by the Nepal Medical College (NMC) Teaching Hospital at Attarkhel in Jorpati, Gelal's kidney failed due to an infection and he had to undergo a transplant.

MP Gautam has demanded compensation saying that the hospital has tampered with Gelal's health. 'What happened to Gamla's health? Who will pay compensation? When will Gamla get a chance to know the truth?,' she said. MP Gautam said that the hospital did not provide all the reports regarding Gamla's medical treatment. He says that government agencies have not accepted Gelal's application recently.

MP Gautam said that the incident happened on Gamala Gelal in February 2076 but no government agency paid attention to it and no one was held accountable for a long time .
