The House of Representatives has extended the deadline of 15 days for the Parliamentary Inquiry Special Committee regarding the misappropriation of cooperative savings funds. In Tuesday's meeting of the House of Representatives, the chairman of the special committee, Surya Thapa, made a proposal to extend the time of 15 days as there is insufficient time to further confirm and reconfirm the information and facts received for the protection of the savings of the cooperative savers.

Chairman Thapa submitted a proposal for 15 days more time saying that even when working on public holidays and outside office hours, the time is insufficient. Speaker Devraj Ghimire informed that the proposal was passed unanimously.

On May 15, 2081, the House of Representatives formed a special parliamentary investigation committee regarding the misappropriation of cooperative savings funds. There are 7 MPs in the committee. The term of the committee, which has a term of 3 months from the day of commencement of work, was ending on 22nd of August . The committee started working from May 23. Chairman Thapa also informed the House of Representatives about the work of the

committee. As the problem of cooperatives in the country is becoming a serious national problem, the committee has been carrying out scheduled tasks of consultation, correspondence, discussions and inquiries with various agencies, experts and individuals concerned while trying to identify and solve the problems of cooperatives. Employees and security personnel of various agencies directly and indirectly connected with cooperative regulation have been connected as contact persons of the committee, Thapa said, "I would like to inform the assembly that until now the committee has completed the inquiry work with 50 people accused of embezzlement of savings of various cooperative organizations."

Similarly, Chairman Thapa also said that the committee is working within its mandate by discussing, cooperating and coordinating with various cooperative related bodies of the association, state and local level.

Thapa said that working on public holidays and outside of office hours is not enough time.
