There will be an agreement between Nepal and Oman on cooperation in diplomatic studies and training. A memorandum of understanding on cooperation in diplomatic studies and training is about to be signed between the Institute of Foreign Affairs Studies (IFA) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal and the Diplomatic Institute under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oman on Tuesday.

According to foreign sources, an agreement is about to be reached during the two-day official visit of Oman's Foreign Minister Saeed Badr bin Hamad bin Hamud Balsusaidi to Nepal. According to an official of foreign affairs, there have been discussions to reach an agreement on other issues, but it is yet to be finalized.

After the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, this is the first time that Oman has visited Nepal at the level of foreign minister. Balsusaidi landed in Kathmandu on Monday evening while visiting Nepal at the highest level. She was received by Foreign Secretary Seva Lamsal at Tribhuvan International Airport.

Foreign Minister Balsusaidi, who came at the invitation of Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba, is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Foreign Minister Rana on Tuesday morning. On that occasion, besides discussing various agendas between the two countries, a memorandum of understanding will also be signed.

Foreign Minister Balsusaidi is scheduled to return to Oman on Tuesday evening after meeting with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and President Ramchandra Paudel. Oman is an important country in West Asia for foreign employment of Nepalis. There are about 24,000 Nepali workers in Oman now.

Nepal's former ambassador to Oman Sharmila Parajuli Dhakal said that Oman is an important friend of Nepal in West Asia. She gave importance to Nepal from Oman and mentioned that it was the first time that she visited at the foreign minister level and Nepal should be able to make use of it.

Nepal can cooperate with Oman on many things. "Nepal can benefit from cooperation in green energy and fertilizers," she said, "Oman has also expressed its desire to invest in Nepal's energy sector."
