The United States is going to support Nepal with two sky trucks and two Bell helicopters to be used in disaster management efforts and to strengthen its aerial capabilities. Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba has informed through X (Tweet) on Saturday that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United States is going to provide this support.
During the one-day visit of US Deputy Foreign Minister Richard Verma on Friday, he expressed his commitment to give two sky trucks and two Bell helicopters to Nepal. The Nepali Army will use those helicopters that Nepal will receive. Rana also thanked Verma and the Ministry of External Affairs for the generous support of the US.
US Deputy Foreign Minister Verma had a courtesy meeting with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Foreign Minister Rana during his visit to Nepal. On that occasion, there was a conversation about helping Nepal.
Principal Deputy Spokesperson of the US State Department, Vedant Patel, also issued a statement on Friday about Verma's visit. In the statement, it is mentioned that Verma stressed on strengthening Nepal's disaster response and air capabilities.
'Deputy Foreign Minister Verma has expressed his intention to provide 100 million dollars from the foreign military finance fund for Nepal's rotary wing (air) capability,' the statement said. Verma informed that the US Congress is reviewing the provision of funds for the meeting.
For this, he has expressed his intention to provide support from the US Foreign Military Finance Fund.
