Severe flood in Thame of Solukhumbu: instructions to mobilize army, police for search, rescue

The Ministry of Home Affairs has directed the deployment of the Nepal Army, Armed Police and Nepal Police for search and rescue and disaster management in the flood that occurred in Solukhumbu's Thame and the coastal areas of Thamekhola and Dudhkoshi rivers.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has instructed Chief District Officer Devi Pandey of Solukhumbu to engage in search and rescue and management in flood-affected areas. The place where the flood occurred is in Khumbu Pasanglyamu Rural Municipality-5 Thame. The flood from that has now mixed with Dudhkoshi river through Thame River.
Defense Minister Manveer Rai said that the Ministry of Defense has coordinated with the Ministry of Home Affairs to adopt all kinds of measures to deal with the disaster and accordingly instructions have been given to deploy security personnel. "The conversation with the Minister of Home Affairs has already taken place." I have also instructed Commander-in-Chief Kamu to mobilize security personnel to avoid the risk of disaster, to arrange for the citizens to be taken to a safe place and to take measures to prevent any other material damage,'' Defense Minister Rai said to Kantipur. More damage can be estimated.'
According to Rai, so far the flood entered the river and damaged the bridge and other physical structures. Defense Minister Rai is a resident of Mapya Dudhkoshi Rural Municipality, a neighboring municipality of Khumbu Pasanglyamu Rural Municipality which was flooded.
