A meeting of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee of the Federal Parliament has been called to take a decision on Krishnaman Pradhan proposed as the Election Commissioner. When the parliamentary hearing is over, a meeting has been scheduled to take a decision on whether to approve the proposed Commissioner Pradhan or not.
The Secretary General of the Parliament, Padma Prasad Pandey, who is also the Secretary of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee, has informed that the meeting of the committee has been called to be held at 11:30 am on Monday, July 14th.
Pradhan, who is under consideration in the parliamentary hearing committee, is accused of sexually abusing women working in the Nepal Law Society. The victim woman came to the committee and gave a statement and she also filed a complaint.
Pradhan said that the dispute with that woman had been settled in the court. Pradhan made a settlement to return the complaint filed in the court by paying that money.
The hearing committee questioned the Pradhan's action plan on July 9. The MPs questioned the 'moral character' of Pradhan proposed for the post of Election Commissioner. Clause 6 (d) of Article 245 of the Constitution mentions that a person of "high moral character" is eligible for Election Commissioner .
