A complaint has been lodged against the Deputy Speaker Indira Ranamar in the State Order and Good Governance Committee of the Parliament. Arjun Baskota of Bhaktapur has lodged a complaint with the State Administration Committee saying that Deputy Speaker Rana misused his position and recommended visas to non-parliamentarians at the American Embassy in Kathmandu.

In the complaint, it is also demanded to investigate the deputy speaker and remove him from the responsibility. Chairman of the committee, Ramhari Khatiwada informed that a complaint has been filed against the Deputy Speaker and said that he has informed the Speaker Devraj Ghimire about this.

'It is necessary to inform the Speaker of the House that the Deputy Speaker has recommended a visa to an unauthorized person and discuss it,' he said, 'It is seen that the Deputy Speaker acted against the rules and dignity of the Parliament.'

He mentioned that he had discussed this with the Speaker in the Working Arrangements Consultative Committee of the Parliament, which was also attended by Deputy Speaker Ranamar. "The Speaker said that since this matter is serious, it can be discussed in the next meeting of the Working Arrangement Consultative Committee," he said.

It was made public that Deputy Speaker Rana had misused his position and written a letter to take five people to America. The 67th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women was held in New York from February 22 to March 3, 2079. The Deputy Speaker, who was going to participate in the same event, initiated the process of bringing 4 men and one woman who were not related to the women's rights campaign with her.

She wrote a letter to the American Embassy using the letterpad of the Deputy Speaker to speed up the visa interview saying that 6 people are going to this program with her.

Meanwhile, the visa process for parliament officers, parliamentarians and employees is done by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the International Liaison and Coordination Division of the Parliament Secretariat. However, the deputy speaker herself wrote the letter as the visa process of the unauthorized person was initiated. Before being elected as the Deputy Speaker, Ranagar was an MP of the National Independent Party. However, this issue was kept secret by the National Independent Party.
