Barakhari Media has announced the sixth 'Barakhari Story Competition-2081'. Barakhari Media has invited stories through a press conference on Monday 31st to send their works to this story competition, which aims to encourage and reward the talent of established and new storytellers, a powerful genre of narrative literature.

In this competition, all contestant storytellers have to send their story by email to [email protected] by 5th November. According to Bahrakhari Media, creators of Nepali language can send stories from all over the world. The story should be at least 1,500 words and at most 4,000 words.

'Barahkhari Katha-2081' is headed by critic and writer Prof. Gyanu Pandey is. Also among the members are writer and critic Geeta Tripathi and literary Dhirendra Premarshi is .

It is said that all the stories received by Barakhari will be sorted by an internal group coordinated by Govind Adhikari, Opinion Editor of Barakhari. The internal group will provide 50 stories from among the received stories to the judging panel . From those 50 stories, the judging panel will select the first, second and third stories as well as 22 more stories for the 'Best Stories 2080'. The decision of the judging panel will be final. As in the previous years, the best three stories in the competition will be awarded a cash prize of Rs.1 lakh, Rs.60,000 and Rs.40,000 respectively and a certificate.

The best 25 stories that make it to the final stage will be published. The remaining 22 storytellers who will be published in the collection will be awarded five thousand rupees each.

Last year this competition received 843 stories from around the world. The results of this year's story competition will be announced during a special ceremony on Friday, November 14, 2081. On the same day, the book "Utkrishta Katha-2081" will also be launched. In the first edition of

Barahkhari story competition, Makwanpur's Bina Thing Tamang's 'Bad Bhale' was the first. Similarly, Laxman Viyogi's 'Tauko' was second and Sumitra Neupane's 'Bardli' was third. In the second edition of the

competition, Laan's Muna Chaudhary's 'Lar', Shreyaj Subedi's 'Bejoda', second and Dipendra Dong Tamang's 'Bullet Bike' came third.

In the third edition, Morang's Manojaditya Neupane's 'Antima Atithi' was first, Swapnil Nirav's 'Budho Ghar' was second and Renuka Jisi's 'Muduli' was third. In the fourth edition, Dang's Naveen Abhilashi's story 'Damaha' was first, Rameshjung Thapa's 'Dadeko Akash' was second. And Rumu Neupane's 'Ghoonghat' was third.

In the fifth edition, Lamjung's Manoj Babu Pant's story 'Budho Lankuriko Rukh' was first, Kathmandu's Pramod Pyakurel's 'Kanchuli' second and Gulmi's Vijay Hitan's 'Chepang, Chamera and Chiuri' third. Like last year, Fine Print will publish the best collection of stories this year.
