The parliamentary committee has agreed to keep a system of imprisonment from one month to two years if convicted in the check dishonor case.

During the discussion on the Banking Offenses and Punishment (Second Amendment) Bill, 2080, a unanimous agreement was reached on the fines and punishments in the case of check dishonor. As agreed in the

committee, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel said that the government will accept the conclusions of the quarterly discussion on the bill. He also said that the trend of dishonoring checks is increasing and it is necessary to control and discourage it. He said that punishment should be legally arranged to control and discourage the tendency of

check dishonor. He was of the opinion that it would be appropriate to arrange the punishment based on the level of the crime.
