Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel has said that the government is in favor of achieving the goal of economic growth through effective management by expanding investment in projects that can give reasonable returns to the economy based on benefit and cost analysis.

In a discussion with the resident representative of the International Monetary Fund for Nepal, Teresa Debon Sanchez, at the Ministry of Finance, Finance Minister Paudel said that the government will take loans cautiously and invest the loans taken in projects that will increase production and productivity as well as give good returns.

He said that while remaining committed to the policy reforms up to the fourth review of the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) for Nepal, the government will implement it and cooperate with the International Monetary Fund for the fifth review to be held in November.

Resident Representative Sanchez expressed the opinion that there are very good prospects in the field of hydropower and tourism in Nepal, and economic growth and the size of the economy can be increased by spending capital in places that give returns.

In the budget of the current fiscal year, a target of 6 percent economic growth has been set.
