Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of Federation of Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, pointed out the relationship between Nepal and Thailand and emphasized on the need to strengthen bilateral trade relations.

In a meeting with Suchira Panchana, director of the Thai Trade Center in New Delhi and commercial consultant, at the secretariat of the Federation on Monday, Dhakal said that there is a long history of friendship and cooperation between Nepal and Thailand and the business relations prove this lasting relationship.

Dhakal said that there has been a continuous increase in the amount of trade between Nepal and Thailand since last year. In 2023, the bilateral trade reached about 150 million US dollars, he said, adding that it has created possibilities and opportunities for both countries. Dhakal emphasized in various fields to enhance the cooperation between Nepal and Thailand.

He said that Nepal is rich in high-quality agricultural products such as tea, coffee and herbs, and by making use of Thailand's advanced food processing technology, they can help make these products more competitive in the world market. Dhakal said that since both Nepal and Thailand are famous for their separate and diverse tourist spots, both countries can promote the tourism sector by developing a joint marketing campaign and a tourism package that covers the destinations of both countries. In the

meeting, Suchira Panchana said that the Thai Trade Center is planning to hold a trade fair and conference in Nepal next year. He said that he expects cooperation from Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry to organize trade fairs and seminars.
