31 billion was spent on the purchase of smartphones, headphones and chargers

In the last fiscal year 2080/81, about 31.5 billion rupees were withdrawn from the country only for the import of smartphones, headphones and mobile chargers. According to last year's foreign trade statistics released by the Customs Department, among the items most imported by Nepal, smartphone ranks third after petroleum products and iron products.
In the last year, only 28 billion 66 million 62 lakh 35 thousand came out in smartphone import. During this period, 1.8 lakh 39 thousand 35 sets of smartphones have entered Nepal.
It is also seen from the statistics of the department that the government has collected customs revenue equal to 5 billion 33 crore 94 lakhs from the import of smartphones. Last year 17 lakh 58 thousand six hundred 90 sets of telephones worth one billion 429 million 85 thousand have been imported.
Similarly, only 659.3 million 28 thousand went abroad in the import of headphones. In one year, the government has collected 21 million nine lakh 23 thousand customs revenue while importing 29 lakh 96 thousand 229 headphones.
Last year, 43 lakh 82 thousand eight hundred and 39 chargers worth 500 million 71 lakh 63 thousand were imported. Only 155.57 million 10 thousand revenue has been collected from charger import. 35 Two lakh 39 thousand six hundred and sixty nine smartwatches worth Rs 51 lakh 48 thousand have been imported.
