The 36th foundation day of Kirat Yakthung Chumlung (Kichayu), a representative organization of the Yakthung Limbu tribe, has been organized for 5 days and completed with various programs.
In the main ceremony held on the last day of the program, this year's Kiachu Ratnashova-Shubhalakshmi Mundhum Award was jointly awarded to the compiler and editor of 'Tangsing Mundhum' Mehrman Labung and Harkjung Kurumbang. Established by the late Manjulkumar Singh Yakthungwa, the former president of Chumlung, the prize amount is 1 lakh rupees and a certificate of honour.
Addressing the program, the former Chancellor of Nepal Pragya Pratishthan, Senior Literary Tilvikram Nembang (Bairagi Kaila) said that religion divides people but culture unites them.
He said that Mundham is an important cultural and social document of the Limbu caste and also informed that there has been a very successful work in documenting Mundhum in the last three and a half decades.
