On the morning of July 16, the Turkish government regained control and the coup attempt was aborted. Every year July 15th is celebrated as Democracy and National Unity Day in Turkey. Ceremonies and events are held across the country to honor the heroes who fought for their country and to celebrate the Turkish nation's ease.
