National Human Rights Commission Wagmati Provincial Office has submitted a report on the activities and human rights situation of the financial year 2080/081 to the provincial head. The deputy secretary of the commission Pawan Kumar Bhatt met the provincial chief Deepak Prasad Devkota and submitted the report on Thursday.
The report has presented the fact that the situation of civil and political rights in Wagmati is improving, but the incidents of murder and suicide are on the rise.
Commission's Bagmati province office in the fiscal year 2080/081 alone, 11 cases on civil and political rights, 3 cases on economic, social and cultural rights, 2 cases on torture, 1 case on child rights, 1 case on women's rights, 1 case on caste discrimination, It is mentioned in the report that 4 out of 26 complaints have been registered on the rights of persons with disabilities.
There were 596 old complaints in the province. The report mentions issues such as family members discriminating against disabled people in the province, government offices and local structures not being disabled-friendly, public places, roads and means of transport not being disabled-friendly.
