Students of Rautahat have started a street protest in search of teachers. Aam Vidyarthi Morcha, close to the Aam Janata Party (AJPA), staged a demonstration at the headquarter Gaur on Wednesday saying that there are no teachers in proportion to the number of students in Madhes.

Along with students, teachers, parents and locals also participated in the demonstration.

Vivek Sah, President of Vidyarthi Morcha, said that despite repeated demands from the government to arrange teachers in proportion to the number of students, there was no hearing. "The government is trying to destroy the education of Madhes in a planned manner," he said, "education cannot take place without teachers." The students participating in the protest raised slogans against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Education Minister Vidya Bhattarai.

While the government is celebrating the National Education Day, the students of Madhes started a street protest demanding teachers. Aam Vidyarthi Morcha in-charge Umesh Kushwaha led the demonstration in Birganj and under the leadership of Vidyarthi Morcha central president Vivek Shah in Gaur. Earlier, Rinadevi Sah, the head of Moulapur municipality, has been drawing the attention of the government by demanding teachers.

Vidyarthi Morcha is in a phased movement in Madhes province demanding teacher to student ratio. AJP said that it has formed a struggle committee in every school from August 25th to 30th in the districts of Madhes.

Umesh Kushwaha, in-charge of Vidyarthi Morcha informed that there is a program of demonstrations by students in various districts and major cities of Madhes from October 2nd to October 4th. AZPA has already announced that it will hold a consultation program with stakeholders regarding the arrangement of teacher vacancies in each district of Madhes from October 9th to 20th and a general educational strike from October 5th.
