Madhesh Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh has said that he is committed to ensure equal and easy access of the people to the services provided by the state by making the public administration clean, competent, fair, transparent, corruption-free and accountable to the people.

Chief Minister Singh said that good governance, development and prosperity are the priorities of the provincial government at the National Strategy and Action Plan against Corruption held in Janakpur on Wednesday by the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers.

He said that since the country is a party to the United Nations Convention against Corruption, all three levels of the government of Nepal should implement the national strategy and action plan against corruption. He informed that the provincial government will take policy, legal and institutional actions to implement the national strategy and action plan against corruption. "Establishing a society based on ethics by controlling all kinds of corruption-related activities is a challenge," he said, "The government will mobilize maximum resources and mechanisms to strengthen and make the anti-corruption campaign effective." He informed that they are doing things such as installing CCTV in offices and agencies with high traffic of customers, developing procedures for publicizing budgets and expenses and progress details for public agencies, building codes of conduct and implementing them to develop morality, honesty and sense of responsibility among public officials.

He said that he has been intensifying the attendance and absenteeism campaign of the employees for some time now and said that he will not hesitate to take action against the employees who are late in the government work. He said that the complexity of the Public Procurement Act should be simplified and that he has instructed the employees not to work against the provisions of the Act to support good governance.
